Gedit For Erlang (Syntax Highlighting) And Edit Remote files from Gedit

        

Download this language definition file for Erlang. (Written by Martin Ankerl) This will support to Gnome standard editor Gedit. 

As I'm a Ubuntu user this will explain how to configure the language highlighting component only to Gnome's Gedit tool..... :) :D [Btw there are many tools and tips for windows users always ;) ]


 

1. After downloading the language definition file, copy it to /usr/share/gtksourceview-1.0/language-specs/ 

  2. Start gedit, open an Erlang file, and choose 
        View >> Highlight Mode >> Sources >> Erlang. 

This definition file will also support to .yaws too. 



And here's another tip about how to edit remote files (via ftp or sftp) from Gedit.

 To edit a remote file first you need to connect to the server you want. For this,

1.  Open any folder you want
2. File >>  Connect to Server
3. Then select FTP(with login) or SSH

Give the server IP, username and passwords and connect to server.

     4. Then open Gedit and press F9. (You will get the File Browser)
     5. In there you can see the server you connected.
